You've gotta see the first Iron Man then. Far and away the best one of those films imo. The only thing which would stop you enjoying it is if your not a Downey Jr fan, but if you are then there's not really much to criticise. That film should be seen as a template for how every (Marvel) superhero film should be made imo - excellent casting, good action, a simple but satisfying story and, most importantly, very tongue in cheek.

Just recently watched Safe House and Get the Gringo

Safe House I enjoyed, entertaining action movie, bit predictable at the end but still well worth watching, very similar to The Bourne films in many ways and Denzel was excellent as usual.

Didn't know what to expect from Get the Gringo, apart from the fact it's got that fruit loop Mel Gibson in it but I've got to say it's a really surprisingly good movie, Mel was brilliant in it, the part was perfect for him. It's a dark, violent, stylish, laugh out loud funny movie. Entertaining from start to finish I loved it. I understand it's not getting released in the US so maybe that's why it's gone under the radar a bit.

Personally really looking forward to Anchorman 2 getting released, loved the first one.

just saw sherlock holmes 1.....was pretty good.....
And smalishah's avatar is the most classy one by far Jan certainly echoes the sentiments of CW

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

Watched Iron Man (and 2) first, then Captn America, then Thor, so probably appreciated the latter more - Only watched it because I plan to watch The Avengers somepoint soon, was very tongue in cheek, and a bit silly, but enjoyable because I expected little from it.

Iron Man's best of the bunch by a long way for me

Just watched the 'Chicken Roaster' episode of Seinfeld...only just realised the ending was an Apocalypse Now spoof...true story.

Pretty sure I'm the only person in the world who doesn't like superhero films at all. I didn't mind the Batman series in the 90s and The Dark Knight wasn't bad but I can't stand all this "oh by the way the hero is a real human being with feelings, just look at his tough childhood, and now that you're aware of his humanity here's some things exploding for the next 85 minutes". Get absolutely nothing out of watching that ****.

And if it's in 3D I'd rather just punch myself in the face. 20 bucks cheaper and I won't be surrounded by children while I do it.

TBH, superhero ones are turn the brain off and appreciate the cheeseyness for me. Its when a film tries to be a film, then goes 'oh, **** it, lets chuck some aliens/zombies in the mix, that'll cover the huge holes in the plot', then I get that feeling.

Been digging around old pages of this thread and I came across this reference to the film I watched last night. Yeah not bad, good for what it was and enjoyed it. Built differently than I was expecting and in a mostly good way.

Wanted to see Snow White. I really don't like the lead actress since her acting is all about being an emo, but I wouldn't mind seeing Charlize Theron on screen.
