Finally got around to watching Wall-E. Can't imagine now why I waited this long.

Watched The Lives of Others again last night, and it reminded me just how great a performance Ulrich Muhe achieved in it. Its hard to believe that he didn't get a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his performance. Whether his performance is better than Daniel Day-Lewis who won the Oscar in 2007 is one thing, but his performance is vastly superior to that of Johnny Depp's Sweeney Todd who was also nominated that year. Its not as if non-English actors can't win the award - Roberto Benigni won it in 1998 for Life is Beautiful

Also concerning is that my missus fell asleep half way through the film. I would be worried about this, but she's done the same recently during every (no exaggeration) film we've watched in the last 6 months - from District 9 through Back to the Future to Lord of the Rings - you name it, she can fall asleep during it. And it doesn't matter where we're watching it - home, cinema, aeroplane etc. Quite annoying.

    I love sleeping through movies.

It shows that I'm not much of a movie fan, because I'd never sleep through even the most boring cricket/football/tennis match, or if I'm reading a nice book, no matter how sleep-deprived I was.

Just saw it for the first time (channel 10 doing something right for once). Even with the ads, and the sound on the movie turned all the way down by the station (judging by the disparity in the volume and the every-five-minute ad break), was a cracker of a movie.

Life is Beautiful got a pretty big release in the US, didn't it? Don't remember the same for The Lives of Others. Terrific, terrific film and such a shame Mühe died when he did.

EDIT: For what it is worth, anyone who doesn't know the story of what happened to Mühe really should check it out. No wonder he did such an insane job.

Finally watched Into The Wild. The fact that I saw Vince Vaughn's face and didn't immediately wanna turn it off is a good sign . Really enjoyed it.

haha, Kirk and I in the same position. Damn popular film in general, haven't met a person who didn't love it. Was just so well done.

Only realised last night the brother was the megalomaniacal religious dude in There Will Be Blood too.

Just watched the 1984 Karate Kid. Really loved the movie and couldn't help but give a whoop when he gave the final kick. Awesome movie.

    Ghosts of Mississippi

Pretty powerful film, and very sad in places. Really disturbing that such attitudes were held by so many and so widespread as recently as the 1990s. The film was quite long, but held my interest throughout. It was excellent.

Saw Inception last night, was very good I thought. Haven't seen a movie for a while that held my attention for 2 hrs plus (mind you, I've seen movies like 'Eclipse'...).

Next up is Toy Story 3

    St Elmo's Fire.

What the ****? I mean, seriously. What. Just. Happened.

Possibly the worst film I've ever seen.

Watched Prince of Persia in the weekend. Its a bit overdone here and there I guess. Still was fairly entertaining in parts. I'm an optimist though so dont mind me.
