It's so good, that I shopped (very crudely) Smitteh's face onto a pic of the main character's body, it really is that good. If only I could remember where I posted it, probably in this thread tbh.

IronMan 2 was pretty disappointing.

Got 6 $1 weeklies out.
Spread - I remember watching the trailer for this on the apple site about a year ago. Looked rather good (maybe guilty pleasure category), yeah it's Austin 'douchebag' Kutcher but...... Anyways, despite all the boobies it was pretty boring. Funny, I know. Basically just Austin acting like his douchey-self (just me?). It was an interesting enough premise, but that was all. 5/10 Redbelt - Only got it out because I saw some other dude searching frantically and then finally finding it. Thought it must be worth a look. Actually a really nice watch with great acting by the leads and some nice fight scenes as well. Admirable theme and all, maybe just the ending was a little abrupt. Won't say anything more to ruin it, but it's definitely worth a look for those who haven't seen it. Juijitsu movie, btw. 8/10 The Front Line - Another movie I had no prior knowledge of. Was drawn in my the cover saying "It's Inside Man meets Hotel Rwanda". On reflection, on can't really agree with that. Maybe there is a nice message in there, but I can't get past the over-explanatory dialogue, and horrible acting. That and the whole story not really making much sense, and the questions of "Who is Joe?" like they are wanting the audience to be in suspense, but we really dont give a damn. 4/10 The 3 remaining movies The Diving Bell and the Butterfly -thanks to NZT and others. The Proposition The Boat that Rocked - Yeah, I've heard it sucks, but I need some laughs even if only a couple. |

Saw The Informant! probably would have been better as a thriller like The Insider which worked so well. Also caught Law Abiding Citizen, not to bad as long as you turn your brain off for the duration of the film.

Haha, how can it work as anything other than a comedy, when you consider what happens? Well I guess I can see what you mean, but it's just too damn funny.

my blueberry nights - wong kar wai's philosophsing isn't as impressive or effective when it's spat out in clumsily delivered dialogue between jude law and a stone faced norah jones. still, worth a watch for how nicely shot it is. khondji isn't doyle, but he still captures wong kar wai's unique aeshetics quite well. 6.5/10
shadows - an ultra cool cassavetes mood piece. its roughness is a little distracting at times, but it captures a time, place and atmosphere very nicely. oh how i'd love to have been living in in new york in the late 50s. 8/10 |
