Finally saw the much hyped Slumdog Millionaire, won't say i didn't like it, but wasn't as i good as i expected it to be, maybe it was because i was watching it with a lot of expectations, i found the whole movie to be slightly inconsistent, one moment it was very close to the reality of the underbelly of country, but the very next moment it seemed to be completely unaware and distant from the reality.
I was very impressed by the acting of almost all the actors, especially the child artists, superb stuff from all of them, and music was also fantastic and in sync with the movie and its context, all in all it was different movie and was enjoyable, but i don't think it really is Oscar material. |

This year's Oscar nominations have been announced:
Nominees for the 81st Academy Awards | Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences The Curious Case of Benjamin Button leads the way with 13 nominations, while Slumdog Millionaire has 10. Great to see The Dark Knight with 8 noms too - though Heath Ledger aside they're predominantly for the technical categories.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button astounds me. The film is decent enough blarney, but its one of those overblown "worthiness" films and the basic plot line - Man meets Girl, Man goes away from Girl, Man meets Girl again, Man loses Girl, Man meets girl again and has child etc. that I remember so clearly being the plot of Forrest Gump.

Saw Valkyrie last night, it was perfectly fine and it is based on a very intersting event but as a film it didn't really do anything remarkable. One thing that did anoy me was the fact that Tom Cruise had an American accent while everyone else was English. Either use German actors and have it subtitled or if you want to use American/English actors which is an understandable decision as it is a Hollywood film have them all use the same accent.
