Snakes on a plane; funny movie and Little Miss Sunshine; That's a great movie.
Watched Saw 2. So dire it's barely true.
Watched The Pursuit of Happyness last night. Loved it, and Will was unbelievable. Mini-Will was great too, cutest kid.
Sorry Anil, I missed this.
The film basically concludes with the conquistadors arriving - I was personally a bit confused by comments made about the film and it's various analogies to today's society, Iraq, or American empire, etc. I personally don't think there's an awful lot to it and though it seems that the Mayans are decrepit, it looks as though the causes of that are environmental (which is one of the theories as to why the civilization crumbled, or was seriously weakened prior to the Spanish arriving). Clearly the idea seems to be that in their desperation, they are sacrificing extremely heavily to a particular deity, and I think this is supposed to suggest their (moral?) downfall and a signifier of their demise of sorts. My knowledge of Mayan culture isn't comprehensive, but I thought this was something they still did reasonably frequently when their empire was still in good shape, so I dunno, really.
In terms of graphic violence, well, it is graphically violent. I didn't think it was OTT in terms of being particularly gratuitous (which Gibson seems to be accused of a lot), and from memory it was only really the constant jaffa rolling down the pyramids that was exceptionally horrific. It's no Ken Russell's The Devils though.

"FFS I'm sick and tired of having to see a bloke bend over to pick something up or lean over and see their arse crack. For christ's sake pull your pants up or buy some underpants you bogan because nobody want's to see it. And this is a boat building shed (well one of them) not a porn studio."

I am catching up with the 2006 movies a bit apart from the usual pursuit of acclaimed movies from over the years.
Just watched Blood Diamond yesterday and Leonardo DiCaprio is superb in it. He has really developed as an actor. I was impressed with his acting in The Departed as well and the improvement is even more evident in Blood Diamond. He is bringing strength to the characters. Blood Diamond could have so easily fallen apart had the central role DiCaprio was playing wasn't enacted properly.
Went see Hot Fuzz today. Pretty good IMO, but not as good as Shaun of the Dead.
Going to see Hot Fuzz today, although I'm only 14, any tips on how to get in?
Act older and confident. Always helps.
Saw M: Eine Stadt such fuer eine Moerder in the last week. Quite possibly one of the most influential films around without anyone these days really paying it any attention.
Hot Fuzz is an IMMENSE film. Better than Shaun of the Dead.

What a film!
Damn those fools at the light will take anything. I found somebody's credit card on the floor and claimed that they would only be issued to people over the age of 16, and they believed it. I did hand it into the police later on though![]()
