    Favourite Voice or Accent

I was just thinking how peoples voices and accents conjure certain positive or negative images.

As a Yorkshireman I probably should not say this but I adore the rolling Rs of certain Lancastrian accents.

I could listen to Fred Dibnah and, to a lesser extent, Lisa Stansfield talk all day.

Strange how just a few miles means the difference between dirty Scouse and rolling Lancastrian.

I love accents. I don't have a favourite British accent. I like them all, apart from southern (they all sound the same), scouse and geordie.
Aussie voices are very nice, but my favourite accents are Irish. Brian Carney's voice is awesome. My least favourite is South African. Like chalk on a blackboard

    N. Irish accent has heavy neg. implications for me and I also dont like it as it is very harsh on the ears.

TBF not all southern accents are RP. I myself have a slight Fenland burr & down in the south west there are some wonderfully bucolic accents.

    - As featured in The Independent.

"as much a news event as an actual footballer, a worthy stop-start centre forward, but an all-time hyper-galactico when it comes to doing funny things with cars and hats, a player whose signing proves once again that the Premier League is still undoubtedly the best in the world when it comes to doing things with cars and hats."

I'll let Neil comment on my accent. He seemed to find it rather funny.

Irish accents are great. American accents are terrible, as are London accents, South African accents and Queensland accents.
