Geoff Ogilvy

This deserves it's own thread. Golf news doesn't come much bigger than this for Aussies. After 11 failed years at trying to win one of golf's prized majors Geoff Ogilvy has withstood Winged Foot in trying conditions and taken the US Open...

Amidst all the soccer this has almost gone unnoticed but surely is the second biggest thing in Aussie sport this year after the Aus beat Japan.

I felt a little for the big man from Scotland, he must be running out of chances too win a major?

Michael Campbell didn't even make the cut in his title defence.

I loved the crowds reaction with Mickelson.

He'd take his shot and they would just go wild with the plaudits straight away before seeing where the ball had ended up. He lands it 30m left of the fairway and they are giving him a rousing reception

yeah i kept getting really confused. When I could watch some coverage (channel 9's today show interference was v. annyoing) the crowd kept cheering mickelson as he bombed it into the rough...

v. confusing

Didn't see any of the golf action for a while now, due to WC, Footy and Cricket.. but thats one top effort, certainly deserves a thread and congrats to him...

Only time I can ever remember actually watching golf. Caught it at the end of one of the World Cup matches, was a great finish.
