Grant McLelland dies
I'm not sure how many fans of his music there are here, but McLennan was the singer-songwriter for Australian post-punk band The Go-Betweens. They were one of the biggest and most significant Australian bands of their time, and released some fabulous records, most notably 1986's Liberty Belle & The Black Diamond Express, which is possibly one of the best ever Australian rock albums. They made a name for themselves in the early 80s touring in europe with huge bands of the genre like Bauhaus and The Birthday Party, when very few Australian bands recieved significant attention overseas. They also had fair success at home later on.
Grant was an incredibly gifted songwriter, and was still making good music in recent times. He apparently died in his sleep, totally unexpectedly, aged 48. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=99073

That's incredibly sad news.
The second greatest living Aussie songwriter. Isn't it McLennan tho?16 Lovers Lane was their best album for mine.
