    RIP Richard Carleton

My thoughts and sympathies go to Richard Carelton's family and friends. It's very saddening to see the loss of a great journalist like Carelton. He was one of the most hard hitting journalists in Australia and was always on his game. I've always had a lot of respect for him and he was probably my favourite 60 Minutes reporter.

Yes, a real shame, I read it happened during an interview?
    You know it makes sense.

He was down at the mine rescue in Tasmania and during a press release suffered a heart attack.

It was actually just after a press conference at the Mining disaster in Tasmania. During the conference, Carlton asked a question, then he apparently went red faced, staggered away, and collapsed. He's had a history of heart problems, but a shock nonetheless.

Genuine gasp moment when Munro said he had died..

Yeah bit of a shock no doubt.

I'll always remember him for the infamous question to Bob Hawke just after he won the '83 election.

Well to be honest I despise 60 Minutes, but RIP none the less. What a shocking death, the way he went is just unbelievable.

I must say his question to the Mine Manager was fairly harsh.

Yeah, it was a metaphor for his career really.

I always felt he tried a little too hard to be hard-hitting.

I don't want to mock a man, especially one evident popular to people on this board, in a thread honouring him, but it was almost like God struck him down after asking such a question. I mean he just collapsed. Crazy.

I was watching the footy and then it suddenly cut to Munroe, and I figured it was another trapped miner update. Very sudden.

I am with Jono, I dont like 60 minutes and I dont like him also. That being said I respect and admire him dedicating his life to finding out the truth and uncovering all the crap that exists. I can only hope when I go, I can look back at such a legacy.

    RIP

It's irrelevant if you like the show or not. The sad news is that Australia has lost a very reputable and hard working journalist. If anything, it's Richard Carleton's work ethic and dedication to go beyond the call of duty that is to be respected. He died doing what he was born to do and he'll leave a great legacy behind.
