Turns out she's not interested and never was. But, of course, I'm a wonderful friend. Normal service has resumed.

Tell her you've got enough friends mate. Might as well play hard to get as a friend to make it interesting. Why she should she get what she wants when you don't?

Nah I'm sure redmunds values her friendship, he'd just like to value it while copping a feel.

Given you're working with this girl, just be her friend, and something may develop later down the track, but that's not to say you should live your life waiting for her, by no means.

You'll be out one night and you'll both have a few beers under your belt and then all bets are off.

I'll give her work Christmas party 2013, max.

Yeah, 'course I want to be friends with her. She's good value, and work's more enjoyable talking and joking with her than it would be without that.

I'd be open to something more happening down the track, but it's important not to fall into the trap of letting 'being open to it' become 'hoping for it'. This was her decision. I do think she's missing out on something potentially awesome, but I respect that choice. And I appreciate the honesty - better than if she went along with it without actually feeling the same way I did.

Hopefully there's someone who will appreciate what I have to offer, which, if I may say so myself, is somewhat underrated. But I'm not desperate for that to happen, and I'm not gonna enter into anything lightly.

I'm pretty used to the friend zone, but it does hurt a bit more than usual this time - just cos I thought it felt like this one was different.
