My three nominations:

The Green Mile - genius.
The Shawshank Redemption - genre-defining.
Remember The Titans - criminally under-rated.

2 (quite) recent films I really enjoyed were

Really thought this was a poor film. Had it bought for me on DVD and find it hard to watch. Far too formulaic and obvious. But I generally dont like these type of films but I can understand how some do.

The obvious: The Godfather 1 & 2, Taxi Driver, Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, Psycho, American History X... and yes... The Shawshank Redemption isn't bad either.

The less obvious: Missing, Cube, Short Cuts, Lantana, The China Syndrome, Chopper, Bob Roberts (if only for the songs), Memento, Sin City (yeah, some of us actually liked it a lot), Blade Runner.

There's heaps of others really, probably some that are better than those mentioned, but they're all great films.

It's A Wonderful Life, Fight Club, Leon and Sin City are films I forgot but would have been on or close to my list. In fact It's A Wonderful Life is possibly IMO the best film ever.

Very good list but The Wedding Planner!!
