I am absolutely stunned as I read the news of Fardin's tragic death. Its so difficult to accept that such a tragedy can actually befall someone so young, so childlike and so playful.

I remember his posts so clearly during the days I used to visit OT regularly. He could be mildly irritating initially but also so endearing when one realised that his unbelievable simplicity wasnt a put-on as all of us initially assumed.

His signature nominating JP McNamara as his favourite U-19 cricketer is so typically adorable and his forgetting to add Vic to the Orthodox of JPM's name so typical of the Bob we got to love and miss at times and irritatingly shoo off at others.

RIP Bob aka Cricket Player aka Fardin

PS : Is it too late to contribute to this fund. If not could someone please tell me where and how to send the money.

I have been in touch with Fardin's friend and heard back from him last week :-

"Fardin's family is currently in Afghanistan completing some rituals. They're expected back in the US at the end of this month."

Just wanted everyone to know that the MO for 830 USD is on its way.

    $830 - good work everyone.
marc71178 - President and founding member of AAAS - we don't only appreciate when he does well, but also when he's not quite so good!

Anyone want to join the Society?

hey just had a thought, how controversial is it that shounak, who set up all this account, in an act of great heroism has now been banned from this community, not that i have anything against the moderation team of this forum, but imo, its as controversial as.

How is it controversial? His banning had nothing to do with this thread.

Shounak took initiative to setup a paypal fund for Fardin's family and his efforts are/were appreciated by everyone. That said it doesn't give him the right to take this forum for a ride.

I think this thread should be closed. It has served its purpose and I dont think Shounak's banning should be discussed here.
