Oh Lordy! Its another music thread! Heavens above!

Ok, before i start, this isnt so much a music debate thread, as they always end up in Radiohead v Muse v Indie v rap v turd "debate" (argument).... though no doubt it'll end up so within 48 hours (probably caused by me)

The question on my mind is thus. Its coming upto the festival season in the UK, and i was wondering if anyones planning to go to any (either day ticket or weekend), and if so what do they think of the line-up? Also, is it the music that makes the weekend great, or the messing about with friends.

Personally i'm off to the Leeds Festival at the end of August, will be my 4th time there. Basically its a religion in our group that the Leeds Festival is sacred, and all shall attend. The main headliners are Pearl Jam, Muse and Franz Ferdinand. Personally i'm not that excited by them (considering in the past i've got to watch Metallica, Blur, Green Day, Iron Maiden, Pixies, Foo Fighters....), but theres a fair few 'lesser' bands that catch my eye.
Firstly theres the Arctic Monkeys. Not everyones cup of tea, but i personally enjoy them. Also catching my eye so far are the Kaiser Chiefs, Primal Scream, Audioslave, Cribs and the Raconteurs (Jack Whites new band, sound damn good!)

With alot more of the line-up to be announced (most of the NME-Radio 1 stage hasnt been announced, which is where the niche indie bands will be, and the Lock Up stage, which is 2 days this year, and contains all your punk/emo/heavy bands), reckon its gonna be a really good year for the festival.

Next year i'm really tempted by Glastonbury, purely to say i've been.

Anyway, discuss.

Download for me.

It's nice being able to walk there from home in half an hour.

I live near Glasto, but I don't think there is a festival there this year, which is a shame.. Might go to IOW or Reading if anyone else is..

I'm hoping I might go to a least a day of Leeds with my sister, but I doubt it.

You're too young and innocent to be exposed to a festival.

I can hear the V-Festival pounding away from the cricket pitches on Saturday and Sunday, assuming we're at home, so I don't usually bother going.

I went to the Insomniacs Ball last night which claims to be the first ever all night indoor festival - main bands that played were British Sea Power - Art Brut - Mando Diao.
Was fun :)

Have bought a ticket for the Friday at Reading - for B&S + FF basically

I've bought tickets to go see Death Cab for Cutie, !!!, Animal Collective, Maximo Park and Level 42 as well :)

went to Leeds a couple of years back, thinking of going abroad this year, there's a couple of decent festivals in France and Holland and the tickets are about £50 for the weeked meaning you can probably get the flight as well for the same price as a uk festival

It's festival season in Viking country, too. Probably going to one in Norway after exams in June.

Can't decide whether to buy a five-day pass (including Roger Waters on Wednesday in addition to everything else), a four-day pass (including some bands I'd like to see but not desperately, and a metal day I won't turn up for), or a single-day pass for Sunday which only includes Kent, Mew, Maria Mena and Minor Majority (i.e. plenty of good Nørdic music)

Did look at Scandanavian festivals but the season seems to be a bit earlier and its pretty expensive.
