Poms Have No Sense of Humour

I just heard an add was taken off British TV because the word 'Bloody' was used.

The add was to encourage tourists to come to OZ. The add was shown as is in the US.

Is this a case of PC gone mad?

We just have a giant middle class which takes offence at far too much.

Still, we have more collective sense of humour than a certain GWB-lookalike...

The article from SMH.

Does seem a bit weird. Watching the video from the link on that article, the ad seems pretty benign. The word isn't even censored on CW. Nigh****chman is, but bloody isn't!
All the same, it does kinda seem like they just used that line for the controversy it would kick up.

That's not funny. That's everyday language where I am.
How does a bunch of southern pansies not liking the damn word equate to all of the country not having a sense of humour? Do aussies only use the bloody word because they find it funny?

What? no.

No one said it was meant to be 'funny', the word just defines our culture in a way.

Yeah....

Also, we must have a sense of humour as Ricky Gervais is English.

What's the point of naming the thread "Poms Have No Sense Of Humour" then? I'd suggest "Poms Are Pompous, Ultrasensitive Idiots" to be a better name.

That's the worst defence i've ever heard.

Australia must be all great at mogul skiing because Dale Begg-Smith is...

Humour doesn't have to mean funny.

It's a stupid ad anyway, and doesn't really show Australia in a positive light IMO.

for some unexplained reason....Britain finds these lot funny as hell....and they're just wrong...

You mean PETER Kay?

I think English people have an awesome sense of humour on the whole. Take the US as an example of poor sense of humour. Their sitcoms (with the exception of Scrubs) have so much laughter over the top that it gives the impression they need to be told when to laugh!

Are you guys all daft or something?

I don't think anyone has seriously argued that Englishmen don't have a sense of humour. So who are you debating with ... ?
