Rob Dauth's Maths

He often asks me maths questions over MSN, and then signs out as I'm typing the answer. I'm beginning to find it annoying to be honest, as I've usually spent ten minutes or so figuring it out, only for it to go to waste.

Anyway, I've created this thread so I can post answers when he annoyingly goes offline.

The answer to the last question you asked, after a period of trial and error moving around and substituting, was +/- the square root of 3.

Good ole Dauth Vader, as a South African would say when referring to the Star Wars character..

I've found a flaw in my calculations... +/- root 3 is actually wrong.

After a long and painful process, I have discovered that b = b. Great... how useful...

I think I'll get some sleep and knock it over tomorrow.

Considering I have found both x and a in terms of b, it shouldnt be hard to complete it and find b. In fact, it should be bone easy, but I cant be bothered as it stands.

I never get asked either, can't be that. Possibly it's cause he knows I'll laugh in his face if it's stunningly easy.

Still got a C somehow...
