Billion Hit Man !!!

This guy called AJ is trying to get a billion page views on his site for a thousand pound bet! worth a click... im not sure if he can do it though, there are only 6 billion people on the planet!

I found him on Yahoo News:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/prweb/200602.../prweb341973_1

He says on the interview with Yahoo:
"ThePixelWebsite.com grew from nothing to 200,000 hits in the first week of being online, over a game of snooker, I just happened to be boasting about it to my friends, which later turned into a debate on how websites work and how to promote them... one of them challenged me, and I love a good challenge, they bet me and said they would gladly give me £ 1000 if I could make a site that gets One Billion Hits! There was one major clause, I cannot spend a penny in marketing the website, just me, my laptop and nothing else. We all know I could simply put a refresh tag in and leave my laptop on for a month. so I told him I would get 1 billion unique hits just to prove it can be done."

The site is:
http://www.onebillionpageviews.com

What do you think? i think he can do it but it's gonna take ages !!!

Can't see him doing it. Some major sites won't knock that up this year.

And they're not unique hits either.

I just added 2 to the count...

Oh well then he could do it fairly easily. Only needs people to sit there and hit refresh several times.

I refreshed it several times and it the counter only went up occasionally, presumably because of someone else registering a hit, so it seems to be genuine. If it is I don't see how there's even a remote chance of the page registering a billion unique hits any time soon. I guess there's no time limit specified in the bet so he can't really lose.

I suppose, but his estate could still claim a posthumous win. By which time £1,000 will probably be worth virtually nothing.

Won't it cost him a lot of money in "bandwidth" anyway?

His hosting is being paid for by a sponser. Good luck to the guy but i highly doubt he can make it. Maybe if major sites link him he has a chance to get a few million

Seems to be genuine as well, only unique hits

I cant see it happening. One billion unique hits just is near impossible. I doubt eBay get that amount.

Thats pretty much half the civilised world!

I can't see him doing it.

He currently has 260,000 (roughly) views. That means he needs to get 999,740,000 more, or multiply his current views by 3846.

And this is an American billion. Would be pretty sad if it was an English billion . Either way, I think he's doomed.
