The Future ...

With Back To The Future Part II on TV tonight, I myself started thinking about the future. Will we really have Hoverboards in 9 years time?

Then, my mind started down the track of the future of the Internet, and then CW. The Internet is a relatively new thing for home use (ten years or so I would guess). CW itself has only been around for five years. Will it still be around in ten, twenty, thirty years? Could I be sitting in front of my computer in the nursing home at the age of 80 with 200 000+ posts?

Yes I know, get a life, but discuss nonetheless.

In 10 years time, Stephen Burke will be just as ugly. Maybe slightly worse.

I daresay the future will be incredibly disappointing. Flying cars and time travel don't seem to be even near completion yet. And the less said about Burpey's looks the better.

Additionally, Fardin will be captain of the world-conquering USA cricket team.

Back in the 1970's, we were promised flying cars, free energy and robots.

We ended up with you lot instead.

One out of three.

I still reckon in around 2025 believing in God will become synonymous with being badly educated, primitive and/or being a criminal - the future equivalent of a professional basketball player.

I reckon CricketWeb will be around just as long as James (or someone respected in CW who buys it off him, should that ever happen) is paying for it, the internet is still active on a domain level - I mean, there will be a point that domains will no longer be used, and something else will overtake it - and then of course so long as there is an active staff. Those three things will continue to bring in the hits.

Look at it the newspaper way, though - when the radio was invented, they said it would be the end of newspapers. When TV was invented, they said this time newspapers were done for sure. Then along came the internet, and they were still scratching their heads about how TV didn't wipe newspapers off the planet. All of newspapers, radio, TV and internet will be around for quite some time to come, probably for all of our lives.

As for flying cars and so on, I won't really consider anything like that until the prototypes are operating. Then the army will get them. Then they'll go retail.

I don't know so much - self-fulfilling prophecies and the like.

There are plenty of religious freaks of many denominations just willing in their own version of 'the rapture'. The thing that scares the hell out of me is how many are actually in power.

The end is near. Stock up on spam.

I hope to be married and be ready to start a family in 10 years. I also hope to have a proper production company and hopefully a good income to allow my wife and parents to live a comfortable life. [/awwww]

The Dev League should be around season 50 by then, with Pickup either bowling on crutches or re-incarnated as a top order batsman.
