    Awkward situations..

Okay so while I have been in South Africa, my dad in England has got himself a partner (first time in 12 odd years)

So anyway I feel very awkward about having to meet her, not that I have any animosity towards it.. if they are both happy then great, but it just feels totally wrong to me, and I still have to live at home there....

Thoughts/opinions? How should I approach this?

Just smile, shake her by the hand & say "Blimey, Dad wasn't joking about the size of your thrups!"

    Seriously tho, dunno. If he's happy & she's nice it's win/win, isn't it?

Mate, my dad hooked up with a new woman about 6 months after leaving my mother. It took a while for me to accept that she was going to be around for a while. But now, they're married, and I get on with her just fine. I even cooked them a roast last night...

You'll eventually come round to her, I'm sure.

Easy for you, you've got experience around older women!

I'm sure you'll get around it...dress up as a bedpan and infiltrate security perhaps?

5 posts for it to descend into an OAP-Voltman fiasco..

    Good going

Anyway she's totally normal and I'm putting on my fake nice guy act! Her son is also a photographer so I might be able to scrounge a lens for a bit!

That's good then mate, she probably feels awkward too...if your dad's happy then maybe just try to be happy for them, if her head tends to rotate 360 degrees and she walks down the stairs like a spider though it might be time for intervention.

    Move out.

EDIT: I don't think you need anyone's advice on how to act in this situation. I think you're already quite aware of what you should do. You just need to decide whether you're willing to do it.

And if all else fails, just casually mention to your Dad that you heard a rumour about her, a sheep and six diseased hillbillies.

I was in the same situation not long ago... I think youre worrying too much, to be blunt. It doesnt need to be a big deal.
