Longest ever prison terms?

Reading in the paper today about 54 year old David Lee Robinson sentenced to 1210 years jail plus 22 consecutive life terms (yes you read that correctly) by a Los Angeles court.

Robinson was jailed after 19 counts of second-degree robbery and three counts of attempted robbery after netting $A87,000 (hardly makes it worthwhile doesn't it?). This isn't the first time he has been locked up after being released for an earlier hold-up spree.

1210 years? Is that the longest ever jail term ever handed down or have there been longer?

10,000 years, if the following links are to be believed.

http://www.law.ua.edu/colquitt/crimm...case/kyzer.htm
http://www.prisonpotpourri.com/PAROL...%20parole.html

I read about a mailman who was given a sentence of several-thousand years for not delivering the mail for thirty years, not sure if that one's true though.

A few years ago I read in the Guinness Book of Records that some postman got around 360,000 years - 9 years for each of the 40,000 odd letters he had failed to deliver.

9 years for a letter yet the bouncer who killed a bloke at Stringfellows could be out in 2...

But at least he then has to go back to the North East, so he wouldn't notice much difference between that and prison.
