    CW Movie discussion thread

The Super last movie thread seems to have aged and has not been brought up for several weeks now.

Time to start a movie thread because there are some very fond movie watchers out here.

This is the place to discuss any thing to do with movies - discuss the best directors, actors (which came up in a thread a week or so earlier), films, foreign language films, any movies you saw and want to talk about them - this list is never ending.

best war related movies you have seen

I am not highly knowledgeable about this genre not having seen many of the renwned war related movies.

Some I have and I like

    Tora Tora Tora
    Schindler's List
    The Downfall
    The Longest Day
    Platoon
    The Gladiator

I have to watch loads of others though like

    The Thin Red Line
    Paths of Glory
    Boot, Das
    The Bridge on river Kawai
    Patton
    Apocalypse Now

Clearly I am not an expert on the subject!

    My favourite war movies are:

    Black Hawk Down
    Saving Private Ryan
    Pearl Harbour
    Behind Enemy Lines
Enemy at the gate - (dont know if that is the name but o well)

Band of Brothers - Not a film but a brilliant TV series. Each programme was like a movie.

You can't beat Saving Private Ryan as war movies go.

And as far as other movies go, you can't beat The Green Mile.

Not really a movie, more a series, but regarding war, "Changi" was the best production I've seen.

Its not off topic. Any thing to do with movies comes in this thread..

I really want to see Saw 2 but wont in a crappy pirated print. The initial reaction was it is better than Saw. IMDB votes for the movie have declined in recent times though and its rating has gone below Saw. If it is any thing near Saw I would be very happy.

Nobody mentioned Guns of Navarone. That was a classic. I liked Troy and the Last Samurai, as well. But Saving Private Ryan was indeed one of the better ones. Dr Zhivago was also set in war time, as was The Pianinst, which I enjoyed.

In my opinion it's better than the original. It ties in with the first a little bit so it definetely helps to have seen the first one.

Enemy At The Gates is probably the best I've seen. Brilliant movie.

Out of interest, any good movies out at the moment, or soon to be released, apart from Saw 2?

    Narnia?
    Harry Potter 4?

Don't bother with Zathura. Its Jumanji in space without Robin Williams. Even Chicken Little doesn't seem worth the money.

I've heard some good reviews of Exorcism of Emily Rose.
