I remember seeing that on TV - hilarious, yet very sad. It's amazing that so many people can actually be THAT stupid.

Being stupid is lacking intelligence. Ignorance is not knowing. The latter can be a result of the former.

But an ignorant person is not necesarily stupid..

I don't think this is restricted to the USA though. I just met a guy who came from Ireland 2 months ago. I asked him where he was from and he said the North. I asked him if he was from Belfast and he was amazed. Said I was the first person in Australia who knew that Belfast was in Northern Ireland, he said that most people didn't even know Belfast was an Irish city.

A guy at my work moved here from South Africa one year ago. He said that other kids (14-15) ask his kids (in full seriousness) if they lived in huts with black people and hunted animals and stuff. He was amazed at the lack of knowledge Australians had about South Africa. He said all they know is Apartheid, Nelson Mandela and can't tell you much more about it.

This isn't just an American thing. Australia's a diluted version of America (in every aspect anyway)..

Thinking that Australia is North Korea because it's labelled as such is stupid.

But those CNNN guys are genius. Oh, those were the days...

Doesn't surprise me though as I have similar stories.

Italy? Now aren't they allies with America?

Ahh, CNNNN. Absolute guns. Still remember a skit they did when Australia bowled out Pakistan for just over 50 twice in a test match. They had guys in a car park hitting a tennis ball and running between wickets:

CNNNN guy: Now what we're doing here is we're making runs to send over to the Pakistani team.
How do you ensure a high scoring cricket game?

Play it in Australia and open the bowling with Andrew Flintoff.
