It has always been like this, it's just that there are more people now than ever (more deaths) and the media is getting more negative in what and how it reports.

What do you mean what is happening?

The world has been full of violence for how many centuries now?

Probably just the hit of events.

The tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita, Hurricane Stan (which no-one knows anything about!!), this new Earthquake that's rocked the subcontinent, terror attacks on a regular basis etc..

It's easy to understand why people would feel like there is something happening to the world..

But if you mean just peace, as in, a lack of war, then what Jono said..

Because of more easy access to news than ever before in the history of mankind, there is more exposure to the tragedies which happen.

That said, the last 1and half years have been particularly shocking as far as number of disasters go.

Dont worry, whats happening today will seem like a gentle breeze to what is likely to happen 20 years from now.
All i can say is brace yourself.

Oh not even remotely close.
But given the data and applying commonsense to it, the scenario of bigger catastrophies and more lives being lost is the most likely scenario.
As much as Bush and Co. likes to deny global warming, fact remains that there are billions of tons of more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere today due to human activity and that temperatures are rising - one of the things that has finally caught mainstream attention is the larger frequency of category 4 and 5 hurricanes.

Err.
Less than 20% of the world's population drives cars.
And cars are not the only sector of pollution.
However, i do blame Bush for being the total gimp he is and saying global warming is 'not manmade'.

Global warming is to a certain extent natural weather patterns (I believe it has been proven) though Bush should get his A into G about pollution, as should all industrial countries.

Oh it is a natural process. Just that we've sped it up so bad that we've done like 10,000 years worth of nature's work in a century or two.
