    Earthquake in Pakistan

Hopefully all Pakistani members (specially the ones in Islamabad, Lahore and further up north) are okay. I am sure we'll be glad to hear of your safety.

18000 dead :O But, this isn't in America, so don't be surprised if this fades away by next week
    Or something.

Absolutely horrible, and Jamee, you're right about what you said.

Good to hear Australia's donated some money, although it's only $500,000

That is horrible. It's awful how most of the time these natural disasters affect so many people yet no one seems to care unless it is a hugely powerful country.

My condolensces to all those affected by the earthquake, especially all the CW members. Quite horrible news to see while watching the Super Series.

Even more horrible are the ******s who complain about their tax payer dollars going to causes like this..

"It's my money, It should be spent on bringing the price of petrol down, not some people I'll never meet"..

edit: 500 grand? That's about the median house price in Aus. The govt can do a lot better then that.. Not go crazy, but 500 grand seems too small. Especially when the death count is that high..

Let's just hope it is only the beginning and we saw more aid money from old mate Johnnie.

Terrible news and I was shocked a thread hadn't been created yet. Good on you Beleg.

Same here, the British government have donated a quite pathetic £500,000.

Meanwhile some independent aid charity in Birmingham has already offered £2,000,000...

The amount of aid is pitiful, If we werent trying to form a new government NZ would probably give a fair amount, after all the reserve bank seems to find a billion dollars every fortnight.

I thought that was the US government.

I don't really know how to assess Australia's $500,000 in relation to what we generally provide. I read that the Dutch government is sending around a million dollars in aid.

Anyhow, all this aside - I'm shocked by the numbers. I have no idea what the entire death toll is at this point - I read a short time ago it was 18,000 in Pakistan alone.

I hope that everybody at cricketweb (and their relatives and friends) are OK.

It is a terrible tragedy- i hope that all these unfortunate folks recieve proper aid and care during this tough time and may the victim's loved ones find the courage to continue on.
I am hoping that some charities pop up in Vancouver real quick so that i can donate something.
