Ronnie Barker passes away at the age of 76

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertain...io/4307216.stm

A true comedian of the highest order. Just saw some of his sketches on the news and I couldn't help but chuckle at the stupidity of some of them.

    R.I.P. sir.

That's sad. For some reason I had thought he'd already gone.

Used to love the "Two Ronnies" and "Open All Hours". Is Ronnie Corbett still around?

That's really sad news. I knew he'd had heart probs over the years, but I'd assumed with his recent minor comeback he was in relatively decent health.

A very, very funny man & a true legend. I love puns, spoonerisms & word play generally and Mr Barker (why not Sir Ronald? Too late now...) was the absolute king. I remember a sketch where he & Corbett were dressed as the bumpkins & Barker says,

"We has a stepladder. That's 'cos our real ladder had left home."

    Classic.

Very funny man. The Two Ronnies is shown on UKTV on digital from time to time here, still makes me laugh despite its age. Sad loss.

Spoonerisms and word plays are so simple, yet so funny. Porridge, open all hours and his sketches with Ronnie Corbett were sheer brilliance. One fav is the one in the hardware store between the two ronnies. Link below. Comedic genius. Will be dearly missed.

BTW if anyone's interested, there's a tribute programme on BBC1 tonight at 10:35.
