The 4 sided triangle
Decartes said that just as a triangle cannot have anytihng other than 3 sides and the angles adding up to 180 degrees it is not possible to imagine that God doesnt exist because he is supposed to be a perfect being and existence is perfection. But what if God is a triangle with 4 sides? Then surley he either does not exist or if he does exist he is breaking the laws of maths and language and therefore chucks everything we know into doubt and is mathematicly wrong? If he is mathematiucly wrong then everything he created is wrong making the whole world wrong? therfore one must treat god with contempt and all existence with contempt

If he is 4 sided, then he is a quadrilateral, not a triangle, Socrates

What the heck, I'll explain. See, by all accounts Socrates was quite intelligent - whereas young Pothas is clearly not. Hence the sarcasm..

No one is a three-headed monkey (no offence to all the three-headed monkeys), so less pseudo-insults please. No insulting of Mr. Pothas' intelligence either.

I think you misinterpreted what I said. I wasn't calling him a three-headed monkey (woo big deal..), I was simply saying that just because people call someone/something a certain name or whatever, DOES NOT CHANGE what that someone/something is.

I also realise this is a stpuid thread, its just we were discussing such things in phillosophy and i chucked them together just to try and start a debate about language and how we define things especialy when it comes to God

Look.. a 4 sided triangle is impossible. A triangle is defined has a polygon have three sides - therefore if it has four sides - it isn't a triangle. And what does it have to do with God?
