Battle Of The Films
Yes, I know. There are so many battle threads around now. But I really wanted to do this. I wanted to find out which film is most popular among CW members. Here is a list of some films I have already thought of:
Citizen Kane (1941) Casablanca (1942) The Godfather (1972) Gone With The Wind (1939) Lawrence Of Arabia (1962) The Wizard Of Oz (1939) The Graduate (1967) Schindler's List (1993) Singin' In The Rain (1952) It's A Wonderful Life (1946) The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) Some Like It Hot (1959) Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977) Psycho (1960) One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975) The Grapes of Wrath (1940) 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) E.T. - The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) Apocalypse Now (1979) The Godfather: Part II (1974) To Kill A Mockingbird (1962) North By Northwest (1959) West Side Story (1961) Rear Window (1954) King Kong (1933) A Clockwork Orange (1971) Taxi Driver (1976) Jaws (1975) The Sound Of Music (1965) M*A*S*H (1970) Rebel Without A Cause (1955) Raiders Of The Lost Ark (1981) Vertigo (1958) Close Encounters Of The Third Kind (1977) The Silence Of The Lambs (1991) Forrest Gump (1994) Ben-Hur (1959) American Graffiti (1973) Rocky (1976) Pulp Fiction (1994) The Shawshank Redemption (1994) The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring (2001) Dr. Strangelove (1964) 12 Angry Men (1957) The Matrix (1999) Alien (1979) Saving Private Ryan (1998) Million Dollar Baby (2004) The Sting (1973) Reservior Dogs (1992) The Great Escape (1963) Braveheart (1995) The Sixth Sense (1999) Life Of Brian (1979) Shrek (2001) Spartacus (1960) Toy Story (1995) There are many other films that should be in this that I have not thought of. Please nominate some films and I will include them. However, these films must be fairly well-known and well-liked; 'classics' as one might say. So please post more films to add !!! |

the most popular amongst cweb members has to be The Shawshank Redemption
Best movie on your list.. Forrest Gump ![]() Braveheart and Casablanca are excellent movies.. some good adventures on your list.. but why is Shrek there? and where is Monty Python and the Holy Grail? you should also add Empire Strikes Back and for mentioning purposes Titanic. |

Is this a "best films" list from somewhere? There's a weird concentration of certain directors (lots of Hitchcock and Kubrick for example, but not much Sorcese).
Anyway, this isn't a bad idea for a battle. There aren't many Noir films in the list (actually, none really), so I think Sunset Blvd. should definately be there. And as it's one of the biggest cult films of the last decade, I'd also add Fight Club. Also, due to the lack of Scorcese aside from Taxi Driver, maybe Goodfellas. There's lots of other films that should be there too, but I'll leave it at that so other people can suggest some.

Good idea from AMZ to include some older influential films like Nosferatu and Birth Of A Nation, although personally I don't see the point in putting ALL the Star Wars and LoTR films there. I mean, who's going to vote for LoTR 2 but not LoTR 3 against another film? Just put them under one I think.

The Incredibles
Finding Nemo. You've gotta have them in there, miles better than Toy Story.

I also believe Quadrophenia (1979) and The Full Monty (1997) should be there. They're British films AND they're good. That takes alot. As the resident Andrea Corr fanatic, I also would like to mention The Commitments (1991) and Evita (1996) Last edited by steds; 03-09-2005 at 09:45 AM. |

Muriels Wedding???
I don't get it.. Why does everyone love this movie?? Ok if you're an overweight female with very low self esteem and you want a story of where the fat chick can triumph, or at least feel good about herself, ok. To anyone else. What do you see? The movie's hardly even entertaining. Chick flicks like Bridget Jones are entertaining at least. MM was boring as anything. Don't know why everyone loves it.. |
