Do You Livestrong?

These little wristbands are surely one of the most ingenious pieces of marketing in history. As I'm sure you are aware, theyre simply a rellow rubber wristband with the word: 'Livestrong' on it. It was an idea by Lance Armstrong to try and raise money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation which tries to fight cancer. Initially he wanted to raise $5million, but there have been more than 20 million (probably a now outdated figure) wristbands sold world-wide.

I thought to myself that it's a little worrying that people just wear them for fashion reasons or whatever, but then it came to me, who cares? the money still goes to a great cause.

So the question is, do you have a Livestrong band?

Yes for me.

I can shamefully say i dont have a wristband of any kind which is for charity but i promise that i will buy all the ones a can because the money goes to good causes.....

I don't 'Livestrong' but I do "Band Together'. These are blue/white wristbands that our history teacher has been selling for charity ( not sure which one ). And I agree Benchy, as longas people are buying them for charity who cares if they are only wearing them for fashion ?

I have never bought one and I most probably never will. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking those who do, but I don't want a medal if I give money or time to a cause. That's between me and my conscience.

I have one but I realised after while something similar to Eddie mentioned so I just donate now if I can and/or buy stuff from a charity shop instead of at a normal shop.

I was disgusted with the attitude that some people had that they didn't even know what the band meant, made me quite angry. It kind of made me want to not be associated with people like that.

i have one of those bands that says "makepovertyhistory" from oxfam, and a few pins from various charities (Jeans for Genes, Daffodil day, Starlight Foundation etc)

but generally i donate money and stuff directly
