    sept 11

i don't know about you guys but this obsession about what happened with the twin towers is making me sick. there is such a big deal about the civilian deaths in NY but nobody care when afghani civilians are killed, or Iraqi civilians, or whatever 3rd world country america is targeting.
I think its a disgrace that certain lives are placed as more important than others.
Between October 7 and december 10 Americans killed at least 3674 Afghani civilians, thats 65 a day. Of course, its ok when they do it...
life's a gift thats why they call it the present

I'm not sure whether we should be discussing this topic on the forum.

Any sign of racism, etc will see the thread locked.

It should be discussed because hiding it would breed more.

But yes, any sign of abuse/racism and it's lock time.

It's not ok when anyone does it.

One thing, though - to spend another day doing absolutely nothing but remembering and mourning is not the right thing to do. That way, the terrorists win.

Yes, it was horrible, yes it could have been anywhere/any of our families, but for 99.99995% of the world's population, life goes on.

I think it should be locked already..

Because Sunil's fanatical hate of all things American is disturbing.

First of all what osama did on sep 11 was horrible, never should have been done at all..

But the American reply was more horiffic... does a modern 'democratic' goverment seek revenge by killing innocent civilians??

They fail to understand who caused the problems.. It was the CIA who first created Bin Laden to fight off the Soviets.. He was heavily funded by CIA.. Off course, CNN and other media conviniently hid this under the bedsheet..

Now they just want to attack Iraq and are finding ways to justify it.. Last time Clinton attacked Iraq to nullify the effect caused by the sex scandal.. USA thinks they are the only country in the world.. thats the problem..

they are the worlds worst pollutants, and at the Jo'Berg earth summit, they were opposed to all sorts of reforms..

that is why i just don't like america and probably why sunil doesn't either..

I agree that the obsession with the sept 11 attacks is unhealthy, and personally I don't really care that much about it.. Yes I am a horrible person..

I think a few of you need to make the distinction between hatred for a country and hatred for a government. I'm sure Sunil hates what the US government does (especially during the cold war when the CIA WAS effectively the American government) but doesn't hate all Americans. If she (or anyone) came in here espousing their hatred for all Americans, they'd be treated in the same way as anyone who came in here saying they hated all Jews or Arabs.

As for hatred of the government, I'm right with you guys on that one. I'm continually stunned at the American people who espouse the constitution as the greatest document ever written and that it's what makes the US the champion of human rights (and in its purest form, it does for the most part) and then those same people won't even blink when GWB enforces 'The Patriot Act' or some other law which counters inalieble rights guaranteed by the constitution.

The things is having unconstitutional laws passed is nothing new in the US. I just find it amazing that the very people who say they believe in the constitution's powers and supposedly hold themselves up to be THE model example of a democracy, will do nothing when those rights are taken away or eroded.

I think that Sept 11, was horrific. It should be remembered, but not because of the attacks but because of what it did to the world.

What other event could possibly have brought almost the whole world against a small rogue nation?

    Funny huh! Sadly YES!

PS. Don't ban me :O else I will cry.

Here's a link to an analysis of the Patriot Act:

David: My post wasn't really specifically directed at you, just meant as a clarification that if Sunil WERE being discriminatory towards Americans, she'd be treated like anyone else who may have been discriminatory against any other race/country/culture.

WWII and Germany comes readily to mind. I mean all they did there was invade and conquer Poland and Austria.

Anyway, which rogue nation are you talking about? The only country attacked in the 'War on Terror' was Afghanistan and that was directed at the Taliban (not officially recognised as the Afghan government), not Afghanistan itself.

But yes, it was quite a large event. CNN made damn sure of THAT!
