Boycott Tommy Hilfiger.

BOYCOTT TOMMY HILFIGER.

I'm sure many of you watched the recent taping of the Oprah Winfrey show
where her special guest was Tommy Hilfiger. On the show, she asked him if
the statements about race he was accused of saying were true. Statements
like:

Quote - "If I'd known African-Americans, Hispanics, Jewish and
Asians would buy my clothes, I WOULD NOT have made them so nice. I wish
these people would *NOT* buy my clothes, as they are made for upper class white
people" unquote;

His answer to Oprah was a simple quote-"YES" quote;
Thereafter Oprah immediately asked him to leave her show.

Suggestion? Don't buy your next shirt or perfume from TOMMY HILFIGER.
Let's give him what he asked for. Let's not buy his clothes, let's put him
in a financial state where he himself will not be able to afford the
ridiculous prices he puts on his clothes.

BOYCOTT TOMMY HILFIGER.

I recieved this today by mail and wish to share it with my friends on the CW

I just called up my wife and asked her to throw away the one pair of sandals I have of this repulsive brand !!

with Love from China

What an absolute jackass. Oprah should have laid him out

There's a black female on his home page

http://www.tommy.com/fashion/

Hell they have a guy named Lloyd Boston who gives fashion advice on their website. He happens to be African American too.

Guess his company directors don't agree with his extremist views.

I've just one T from the dolt's label, which I wore once, like 4-5 years ago. Don't like it much, but after this, I very much doubt I'd be wanting to wear it anyway

I haven't got any clothes by him but have a garment which he won't have received any money from if you get me but won't wear that little number anymore. Certainly won't dabble in the eau de toilettes now I've heard this.

What a disgrace.

The topic of this week's sermon is the Ninth Commandment of Moses: "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor."

Allow me to cast the first stone.

A whole lot of nice, earnest folks who surely don't consider themselves liars are using the Internet to spread a false and libelous rumor about fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger.

It comes to them in the form of a forwarded email message. They read it, they either believe it to be true or don't care if it's true, and they pass it on to friends, associates and people they hardly even know with the click of a mouse button.

Knowingly or not, each one of these people thus becomes a link in a growing chain of lies.
I thought people on here might be a bit more suspicious of email rumours

Although this hoax email has been circulating for some years, and has been thoroughly discredited, it still convinces many recipients that Hilfiger is an outspoken racist.

The information in the email is an unfounded rumour. In fact, Tommy Hilfiger has never even been on the Oprah show. Both Tommy Hilfiger and Oprah Winfrey deny the claims in the email. The Anti-Defamation league also investigated the claims and found them to be untrue.

Tommy Hilfiger's web site has statements from various sources, including Oprah and the Anti-Defamation league, that comprehensively debunk the rumour.

I'm actually quite surprised at some peoples immediate responses, there not from people i would expect to jump in without considering the situation - do you not think this would have been all over everywhere if it was true?

PS i don't like his clothes either

Coming from SJS and Adam, I naturally assumed it to be true. But then again, I myself should have researched before making a comment.

I read something similar to what SJS posted six or seven years ago, in a newspaper article I think (which doesn't add all that much to its credibility, admittedly). I don't know if it's true or not, don't like the clothes anyway though.
