    Michael Campbell

What a day for NZ sport fans. Michael Campbell won the U.S Open by 2 shots. He has been doing it tough for the last few years and i am over the moon for him. I don't even like golf that much but to see a NZer win a golf major was just awesome

Congrats to him. Used to dominate the Australasia tour a few years ago, good to see him return to that sort of form.

What a fantastic event to watch! Those scenes at the end - i think we all had tears in our eyes for him. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. After a career of ups and downs he hits the jackpot amongst the company of the world's finest golfers.

On top of the prize money (over US$1 million) he is set for the next 5 years with entry to all the majors. For the non-golfers out there it will be hard to imagine how big winning a major tournament is. It takes something special thats for sure.

People were tooting their horns on the motorway!

One of New Zealand's finest sporting achievements. Go Cambo!!

It's been difficult to watch Michael over the last 2 years. He is an extremely talented golfer and he was on the verge of something big 3 years ago when he won 3 or 4 tournaments in one year but unfortunately he lost the plot.

He's only 36 and he's got a lot of years left in him so I hope he builds from this win.

to say he dominated the australasian tour a few years ago is a bit've an overexaggeration.

but this is seriously the next best thing to an aussie winning and i feel so proud. IT's great to see that Michael is still proud of his Maori history, and I thought his shirt was great. Kia Ora. I think that means something in Maori. Well done NZ and michael campbell.

I thought Kia Ora was a fruit drink?

Is this the same one who about 10 years ago came from nowhere to nearly win the Open?

I think what he had on his shirt was "Kia Kaha", which I believe means something like "be strong".
