I'm looking into purchasing an MP3 Player - does anyone have any recommendations?

    Cheers

You just cant beat an ipod.

But an Altec Lansing speaker set and you have a portable music system of awesome quality which you can carry in your briefcase.

I am into Sony's Hi-MD minidisc range at the moment..; Although it is so rare, I think you can only buy the stuff for it in London.. I got the unit for £60, and 1GB Minidiscs cost about £4, and store data as well.. A bargain, because you only pay for what you need, and the sound quality is the best I have heard from a portable music player..

I was told by somebody that the ipod isn't good if you plan on using it for running (listening to music while you work out). Other than that if you are just using it for train travel or likewise you should be fine with that.

The color of immortality, nature and envy - you are truly a unique person. While clearly the color of nature, you also symbolize rebirth, fertility and hope in the world. On the other side of the spectrum, a natural aptitude to money with green coming to signify money and possibly even *********!

the new version of the one i have, large storage, decent battery, FM tuner, direct recording, external mike, colour screen to view photos.

The best feature about it as far as im concerned is that you don't need to install any software or drivers to use it, you just plug it in via USB and drag and drop files on it. It uses Winamp playlists. The headphones aren't much cop tho.

Well I own an iPod and it does the job for me. Mine's just a boring 20Gb one and it's easy to use, is fine for any fitness work I do (cycling, etc.) and has decent sound hardware.

That said, I've head some great things about the Creative Nomad Zen.

To be honest, I dont know what the difference is elsewhere but here, the MP3 players don't change in price once you hit 20Gb and above. The Apple iPod are about the same as the Creative ones. The SOny 20Gb unit I saw was way more expensive but I'm pretty sure the double battery life and extra shock protection is what bumps the price there.

A huge advantage for me with the iPod is that I can install Yellow Dog Linux on it. Don't know how relavant that is for you guys.

My MP3 memory adds up to just under 500mb. Good enough.

ive done a little bit of looking at different mp3 players, and it really seems as if the only thing the ipod has going for it is the fact that its very easy to use straight away. coversely, that means that it has minimal functions.

I've got a 512 MB player from Creative. It's enough for me. It's smaller than most other players I've seen.

I use the in-built one in the Nokia 3300...Fantastic quality, even at minimal space-hogging.

Problem is,I've got only a 32mb Multimedia Card.

I meant the Altec Lansing In Motion portable system.

    http://www.alteclansing.com/product_...region=northam

    It folds into a very small piece. I think 9" X 6" X 1.5"
