    It's thought to be a hoax, and I certainly hope so. If not, it would throw our economy into absolute turmoil - even though tourism is now our biggest export earner.

    I agree it's a hoax. If you're going to blackmail a country such as New Zealand with a threat of foot and mouth, why would you start by putting it on an easily-isolated area like Waiheke Island?

    Yeah, the fact that it's Waiheke Island made it seem unlikely to be true to me too.

    Apparently it COULD be a Massey University capping stunt. Pretty stupid one if it is. They've only said that because it's capping week there and the letter came from Manawatu, pretty thin evidence.

    Its happens after you get graduation in a university and you have a capping ceremony after that..
