    VE Day, 60 years on.

Is it just me or is this massive event being almost completely overlooked by the country as a whole?

Should've been a huge celebration / act of remembrance IMO.

Unfortunatly it is the way the world is going Marc, as people's lives get busier we start focusing on our own lives and forget about important dates like this, an in particular Britian.

It stands for Victory in Europe and it was when the Second World War ended in Europe in 1945, with Germany's surrender.

Its been a very important and emotional event in my household.... because most of my great uncles fought in the war... my grandad wasnt actually fighting in the war, but he was involved... tho ive heard the stories millions of times, its still good to hear some of the stories. If it wasnt for people like my great uncles, Europe wouldnt be the place it is now, i doubt that the world would be the same place if the Nazis had won the war... So thank God that we won it...

Yeah, I watched something on BBC about it yesterday afternoon but I was also amazed that nothing was mentioned about this other than a small excerpt on the news.

Disappointing, as probably one of the history's defining moments.

I watched a programme yesterday on BBC 1 where the reunited people who fought in the war, it was pretty emotional to say the least...
