Regarding Radiohead, I do think Hail to the thief is a bit of a return to form; not prime Radiohead, but at least they actually condescended to write some tunes. Kid A was probably as disappointed as I've ever been with an album. I really tried hard to like it too!
All of these "best of" charts are flawed; too much received wisdom. &, I'm sorry, The Joshua Tree is not the 2nd best album ever!
I don't expect to see Husker Du, Thin White Rope or American Music Club in these things, but no Astral Weeks?!?! No Van Morrisson at all, come to that! No Pogues, Kinks (surely to Christ Village Green Preservation Society is one of the top 100 albums?!?), Iggy Pop, Echo & The Bunnymen, New Order, Nick Cave.....
& if Horses is there, why not Marquee Moon, a far more realised album?!
