the last few years of his life were certainly a struggle, but he showed his stuff by keeping up all the traveling and other commitments that he could possibly do.

just reading some stuff about him he achieved a fair bit during his 26 years as pope, he will be missed.

i look forward to having a chat with him in heaven though

Sad news, but unfortunately it was inevitable in the end, he will be sorely missed by millions around the globe.

BTW, I don't understand this, if he was called Karol why was he Pope John Paul II and not Pope Karol?

Most of the popes (except St Peter) have changed their names from their given names at birth.

S'pose the bookies in Italy will earn loads from bets on the new pope, too.

    RIP.

Was he really "John Paul" or was that just the anglicised version?

Shouldn't it have been Guiseppe Paolo?

Anyway, RIP. Not the time or place to debate his merits.
    - As featured in The Independent.

"Predictably, the ending of his international career did not end the argument about Pietersen's merits, as an army of informed commentators and Piers Morgan weighed in to defend or attack him."

Remember that the Vatican uses Latin, so it'd be Ioannes Paulus II
