Wonder Woman
Msnbc is currently doing a poll as to who should star as Wonder Woman in an upcoming movie.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7348794/ This is an extremely important issue - a while ago it was rumored that Jennifer Aniston was going to get the role; well, let's just say that if that happened, my Lynda Carter memorabilia would be left to charity, and I'd be hanging from the rafters. Some have suggested Jennifer Connelly - I could live with that, but some of the suggestions in this poll? OK, Jessica Alba maybe, and I'd love to see Scarlett Johannson in the outfit - just not in the context of a Wonder Woman movie. Keira Knightley??? You would have to be joking. Who do people think could play an important character like Wonder Woman? I personally favor Angie Harmon, who played Abbie Carmichael in "Law and Order". But I'm open to ideas....

Lucy Lawless or Angelina Jolie. Someone athletic; Courtney Cox and J-Lo are too effeminate and small. Wonder Woman was a strong, tall, highly trained body-type.

That's true - she has to look like an Amazonian, and be capable of handing out the mother of all beatdowns. Lawless is a pretty good pick - Jolie's arms are a bit too thin and veiny.
And Mr Wright - J-Lo??? You're now on my ignore list. Courtney Cox could have really worked about ten years ago though - I think I saw her in lingerie in an episode of "Herman's Head" once, and she had some body back then. A bit too bony these days, and probably too neurotic a personality. Wonder Woman has real power. |

As big of a comic fan as I am, I'd say that I hope they don't go through with the movie project. It will be a catastrophe of the level of Catwoman. The look of the outfit alone will be enough to take away all credibility. They've got to face it - it worked in the 70s, but it's a different era now and that stuff just won't fly.
Of course the film will bring sex-crazed teenaged boys and some men to the theatres, but overall it can do nothing but harm the comic book to film industry. I do hope my Jessie doesn't get involved in that.

I had another thought... Charisma Carpenter. That could actually really work. And McG should direct (he should be directing the Superman flick, too). BTW, Mr Mxyzptlk, are you commenting on the time-honored outfit, or have you seen a new (disastrous) design? |
