Living in a dorm...

In the three years of University time I've had thus far, I'll be going to stay in a dorm for the first time, for a week.

I've had friends tell me so much about the fun that comes, however I've been really reluctant. I like my home. No place as home sweet home.

I'm anyway gonna stay the next two semesters there, on popular demand (from someone special).

Anyone want to share their experiences of living in a dorm?

Haha, it helps - the fact that I'll always be able to get out, and meet the future missus in a matter of minutes.

yeh thats very true, my last post overlooked the benefits of a dorm, you get ur own independance which in some ways depending on what sort of person you are worth moving out on its own. and yes meeting the future mrs would be one such factor that would indeed persuade me to do similar to yourself.

I go to boarding school and I'm in a dorm with 4 other guys - the entire boarding house has 40-50 people. It's good fun, the showers aren't that bad to be honest, people respect eachother's belongings and privacy. Well. In my boarding house, anyway.

In my first year @ Hull Uni I stayed in Halls of Residence.

I was actually one of the small, ****-on minority who had to share a room! I got on ok with my roomy, despite having v little in common (he an Accountancy stude from Newcastle into ****e Heavy Metal, me a Philospophy/Sociology studying Smiths fan from Cambridge). At that age (18/19) you really need your own space tho.

I'd be scared of waking up with a one-inch hole in my ear filled with a whiteboard marker lid.

At camp we had one guy who was an absolute nut! A crazy asian with emotional issues, I remember three occasions where he went after people with brooms, he seriously wanted to kill them. It was good except having the freaks in our dorm and waking up with shaving cream on your face

As long as the eyebrows are there, don't complain.

At my friend's 18th, one guy burnt ONE of his eyebrows off with a lighter. I'm sorry, but there's no word to describe this guy other than d*ckface.
