    University Challenge - Mon 26 Sept - 2030 - BBC2

I've just found out I've made the last fifteen for Exeter's University Challenge team. Next step is to narrow it down to three teams of four plus three reserves for the Regional Finals, and from then on, who knows?

So, as many obscure facts as possible would be appreciated!

Do they have to be cricket related only ?

I presume these are trivia-questions you will ask your opponents.

It's a national University quiz competition based on all subjects, that's been running for decades and is recognised as one of the hardest going.

I'm just looking for obscure things on as many subjects as possible. My brain already pretty much covers most of cricket's nuances, so I'm trying to fill the empty bits with a broader array!

What are you strong and weak areas? I'll try and have a think of some the obscure trivia rotting in the back of my mind later on.
My claim to fame with UC is that my Dad captained Edinburgh to victory in the 1960's although I've not tried out for the team thus far.

Strong areas are sport and the umbrella that is econogeopolitics (don't think that's a word).

Biiig Weakness is classical culture (literature, music etc) but I'd guess there'll be someone else on my team who knows his Amadeus from his Aristotle.

It's posed by one central quizmaster to both teams at once. I'm just trying to swot up!

The way that it works in that you answer a question from a quizmaster (on TV is called Jeremy Paxman but for regionals will be someone else) on any topic and then if you get it right then you get three more questions (only your team can answer) on a different topic so basically, trivia from all areas so Neil can boost his already burgeoning array of trivia knowledge.

He has to use his brain for something.

So you are just working on the off-chance that the trivia we provide may coincidentally turn out to be the answer to any of the questions asked of you ?
