Yes, just last week I embezzled 8.9million from Kazakhstan (!)

Personally, haven't got any credit cards (just debit), and am pretty damn careful to only buy online from reputable sites or through paypal.

    OMG! Go for it!! lol

On Today Tonight or some silly current affairs program, they had undercover footage of busting one of those scams up..
'Copperfield,' said Mr. Micawber, 'farewell! Every happiness and prosperity! If, in the progress of revolving years, I could persuade myself that my blighted destiny had been a warning to you, I should feel that I had not occupied another man's place in existence altogether in vain.

Its possible, basically some websites just accept card number and name, some need address phone number and the extra 3 numbers behind the card

Some phone cards just need credit card number and u can fill em up with an automated machine

Can be used in Airlines, they can't check for authorization.

    Lotta scams

Don't have one. I wouldn't/don't trust myself to have one and personally I don't see much point in having one.

I myself would refuse to give credit card details no matter who else over the net and try and look for other methods, and if i can't get it, then too bad.

I've bought stuff over the 'net before using credit cards. Only reputable sites though - CricShop, sporting-gifts, Amazon etc.

i have brought a couple of things over the net, reputable sites ofcourse, but hearing stories about people getting burnt badly over the net are scary.

ive seen copies of pages for logins to sites where credit card details involved that look exactly the same as the real thing with a 1 letter change or slight alteration to the url.

I do loads of trading on ebay, buying and selling, a lot through pay pal.. I have never had a bad experience with this, but..

Once I recieved an email from "Ebay" asking me to verify my bank details.. I had nearly reached the submit button when i realize the only difference between this email and ebays other regular emails was the sender field was marked Ebay.com and not Ebay..
It looked so official and have since learnt that Ebay never do any of that kind of stuff via email.. Watch out, i nearly got completely done over

Excuse my ignorance but how does PayPal actually work? Is it the non credit card way of buying stuff?

Its a web based thing where you can pay for stuff on the internet directly from your bank account.. And you can sell stuff and have the money transferred straight in..

It isn't the most straightforward thing I have ever done, but its a godsend once it is set up for frequent internet traders..
