Can't believe it...

Hey people,

I'm in total shock right now. I just found out that my next-door neighbour died on Sunday night. He was only 17, a month older than me and we used to be best of friends all through infant and primary school. He died from a heart attack whilst playing Six-a-side football in the local leisure centre. I really can't believe it. We had each gone our seperate ways through High School and College but we always spoke whenever we saw each other despite the old friendship we had not being there.

I hadn't seen him, nor spoke to him for months but I am still in shock at the moment in time. I guess it really goes to show that if your times up and the bloke upstairs calls for you then thats it. Strange that I was just saying to a colleague this afternoon that your only here once, and you should make the most of it and do the things you want to do.

So, I've decided. I'm not going to miss up on any opportunity and I'm going to take them all. If I see something I like, I'm going to buy it. We only live once, after all.

The strange thing is that I don't feel any loss really, it just feels kind of numb that someone the same age as me, and someone who I really used to be best of friends with is gone.

Anyway, I felt I had to just say something to all of you at CW.

Take care people,

Lee

Thanks mate.

I really hope I don't bump into his Mum, Dad or Sister. I know I won't know what to say to them.

Heart attacks can strike at strange times. My best mate's cousin just dropped dead while out on a run when he was about 24. He was slightly overweight, but still very hard to explain.

Sorry to hear that mate.

Yesterday I found out that one of my old mates from primary school fell off a motorbike and is paralysed from the waist down!

The older brother (22) of one of my primary school friends died before Christmas from a blood disorder - it's scary when something just happens so close to you like that.

I'd guess that this is the same Sudden Death Syndrome that struck Marc-Vivien Foé and Gabby Yorath's brother? It's a bit worrying how this seems to be getting ever more common.

Yeah a guy from my past school died like 3 years aback... he was on the football team also I think and they had P.E. that evening.. I'm not too sure... and he stayed back in school a little late and he collapsed... had a heart attack I think... was never too sure.. just when you think you're too young to have a heart attack something this happens. Makes you realise life is short.

Sorry to hear that, mate.

But yes, heart attacks strike at some very unbelievable age. My mum's brother passed away at 26 of one. Family was shocked.

Just over a month ago I heard that this aboriginal guy who went to my old school died of a heart attack. When he left the school he was a pretty plump little boy to say the least, and apparently his family has a pattern of drug and alcohol abuse. One guy told me he'd lost a lot of weight, and in the end maybe even that was a factor in his death (because he did it so quickly). Still, when I found out, it was one of those "... Whoa..." moments.

Yeah I had one of those moments last year when I heard that a guy who was in my form class at high school from 1999 to 2003 had drowned. Was shocked by that.

Heart attacks to people so young are horrible, sorry to hear about this.
