Hey I'm not a particle physicist, blame the future Spark. I just dabble in this stuff for fun.

Got an image in my head now of Spark wearing a lab coat, hand on his chin looking at some data and going "hmm, strange"

physicists very, very, very rarely ever wear lab coats

but yeah: tl;dr LHCb found something which theory tells us shouldn't exist. so the theory is broken somewhere. we already knew that, but this might tell us where it's broken so we can try to fix it, and that makes everyone happy.

well, it makes theorists happy, anyway

i'm sure it won't be too bad once everything is assumed to be weakly coupled spheres

I'm told that Penrose's old idea of twistor theory is making a comeback, which I personally quite like because even by theoretical HEP standards it's totally and utterly incomprehensible and therefore perfect to half an eye at studying one day

Christ, the CV of the bloke who wrote the paper above is ludicrous.

    What will probably happen now:

[ ] Governments correct their ways because of the paper.
[X] Governments try to fund more research that tries to say the above paper is wrong
