Who on Earth likes rap music?

Why is it most action films nowadays seem to have this utter crud (rap music or slower rap music given some other genre name like the stuff Eminem trawls out) in the background, except it's not quite in the background because some loud barely-evolved-from-apedom dimwit chanting in the background with zero talent is near impossible to ignore. So who on Earth likes this music bar the tone-deaf and those so stupid that the lyrics somehow seem to be 'clever' and not hysterically pathetic and convoluted?

I see where you are coming from and agree to an extent, but a small proportion of it can be decent. Some hip-hop beats are awesome.

I have to suffer the atrocious Eminem tripe virtually every time I'm at the gym, they always have Galaxy station on the radio with the same music every day - the one where some lunatic is making some screaming type noise in the background, as if the cross trainer isn't bad enough on its own.

Some of its alright.. there are some good beats going around..

What I hate are the "Blingers" like J-Lo and Beyonce singing absoulte ******** about going back to their roots and their fast cars and diamond rings.. Thats more R and B though, and I think it is way worse than rap..

Yep, Rock Music I love, can't get enough of it, same with 90's style rock like Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls etc. Modern stuff like Coldplay is fantastic as well and John Mayer gets my vote for being one of the best pure guitarists and lyricist's around.

Other then that, I also love my cafe/jazz style music (not the old, old jazz stuff, but some of the new stuff) and my blues music.

Cheesy RnB is something I'll probably never like, rap too is a little tasteless for me.

These are the best recent albums I've heard in a long time (in my opinion).

John Mayer - Heavier Things (2003)

Brilliant mix of rock and blues music with a touch of jazz. Great guitar work, great lyrics and just a fantastic sound throughout the album. Highlights are Clarity which is lyrically the best song on the album, Daughters which is just Mayer on his guitar, Come Back To Bed which features a brilliant blues type guitar solo and Only Heart which is an addictive rock track.

Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002)

Simply a brilliant album, one of the best I've heard. Chris Martin has great vocals, the lyrics are fantastic and the music is breathtaking. Brilliant piano, brilliant guitar work its just a great album to have. Highlights are Clocks, In My Place, The Scientist and my personal favourite Amsterdam.

Matchbox 20 - Mad Season (2000)

I think this is their best album musically. You don't often associate Matchbox 20 with things like trumpets, horns and all that jazz. But they combined the fine elements of jazz with their fantastic rock music. The lyrics were good, the music was better. Highlights for me were If You're Gone, Mad Season, Bent and Last Beautiful Girl.

I like some rap music. Lots of people do, Scaly piscine, and they are not all idiots. I think you need to accept personal taste.

Please.. summing that up in one sentence.. a blind man trying to drive a car with directions..

Raps a huge genre .. and if you listen to 1/2 of the mainstream stuff and base your opinion on that , thats fine .. because there are many other ignorant people jumping on that bandwagon..

But mainly rap..
So if you want a good talk step up , because i know it inside out..
