Re the South Sudan anthem, do we all agree that if any country has an “information minister” then it’s completely ****ed up?
It's definitely a sign of being weird. Though I have seen worse. There was a period of a few weeks in the 1980s when Kenya's President at the time took the logic to its natural conclusion and straight up appointed a Minister for 'Propaganda and National Guidance'

It is a very different thing. Not as much deforestation, mostly it is a seasonal and outside the jungles. And most of those countries are very aware of the issues and the governments have put in place controls and environmental protection. Unlike Brazil which is just trying to burn as much of the Amazon away as quickly as it is able to in uncontrolled fires.

Xenophobia rears its ugly head in South Africa again.

In response SA-owned leading mobile network MTN has had to close all of its Nigerian stores due to targeted attacks.

And of course darling Malema decides to turn it into incitement against white people because its a day ending in y: https://citizen.co.za/news/south-afr...white-capital/

It seems lots of frican govenments are releasing statements against the violence. Zambia has even aborted friendly match with Bafana Bafana because of the same. Hoping that Ramaphosa has a better response to the root causes than his predecessors.

The only response is economics. As long as there is insufficient jobs in SA for the growing under-skilled, younger job seekers then you will continue to see the problems in SA; including this continuous violence and anger. Because when some people feel they have nothing to lose they will behave have as if they have nothing to lose. And as always politicians will give them anybody else to blame but the politicians themselves. Pretty much the same as everywhere just countries like SA struggle to cope with all our already numerous problems.
