Does it really need to be re-iterated that the actions of a few don't define an entire faith or movement?
I mean, if the institutions at the core of the faith/movement then engage in a huge systematic coverup, then it says a bit.

Obviously I don't mean individual Catholics, or I'd be attacking myself.

Yeah, I think one of the big problems with Islam are many madrasas teaching hateful doctrines. That's a core institutional failure.

You can't really separate that from geopolitical factors though, as well as governments trying to give themselves faux legitimacy through enforcing religious orthodoxy. So it's not as straightforward a comparison to the Christian churches.

The integration between religion and the state is much more ingrained in Muslim majority countries too I'd say

All religion has institutional failure at its core.

The New Testament and the Jesus depicted in the New Testament are great, the world would be a much better place if people actually read it for themselves and tried to follow its teachings.

It's Christianity which is the problem.

Without wanting to start a big debate. I have to disagree with that vehemently. Even if the portrayal of the ideals of the new testament and Jesus in media and popular story is not to bad.

It's a problem when an 'unbreakable' law of a religion means that systemic child abuse has to be covered up instead of dealt with properly by informing authorities and kicking pedos out.

It's been an unfortunate occurrence in other institutions looking after vulnerable kids too, at least they can be reformed and proper steps put in place instead of hiding behind the 'sanctity' of confession.
