It’s almost as if people are trying to buy 1-2 months of everything before all shops close down.

    They’re “stockpiling” playstations as well.

There was something in a stuff article this morning on shop closure clarifications adn apparently the government is looking at "non-food delivery business" which one assumes is online shopping.

A national state of emergency has been declared. Mobile alert to be sent out between 6 and 7 tonight. Jacinda's about to make a statement in parliament.

Finally starting screening at the border. Wish that had been imposed weeks ago.

The Christchurch mosque shooter has just pleaded guilty to all charges, and will be sentenced in June.

What a relief. A prolonged trial could have been a horrendous ordeal for the victims' families - especially when he originally planned to represent himself.

Good. A trial could've been incredibly emotional and upsetting for the families of the victims, the survivors, the first responders etc (now dealing with cv threats) and NZers in general. He should really get life without parole but I hope he can turn his life (and evil thinking) around in prison.

Proper reviews of what was done poorly and well to prevent/reduce this obviously needs to be thoroughly analysed so I hope evidence is still gathered.

The two need not be mutually exclusive, imho. It would be great if he somehow transformed into an altruistic saint, but I don't think he should ever be allowed back into the community.

I dont support the death penalty, I dont have personal views on it but support the community view. But I would not object to a piece of rope being part of his cell furnishings.
    If you nick it walk

As we look to the future, we may need a national nursing reserve corps to mobilize the deployment of nursing services in times of emergencies and epidemics. And we now need to be open to the ways in which our own biases, assumptions, and traditions may blind us to men and women ready and willing to serve at this very moment.

Got my 15 minutes of outside time earlier. We downsized to a windowless apartment (technically there is a window but there is also a building extension on the neighbouring apartment block that's sealed up all natural light) so this whole lockdown will be somewhat trying tbh.

Anyway, went to a parking lot across the street that overlooks Beach Road here in Auckland. Counted 30+ different people in about 5 minutes out and about, excluding obvious essential workers. One guy even went up to a city works guy in his car, almost stuck his head in the window to ask him something. ****ing moron.

looks like people are flouting it everywhere. my drive to work this morning felt like it was a saturday morning rather than a pandemic lockdown.

i see quinovic are up to their old tricks again. i hope they push their luck so robertson can break them and that worthless little middleman sector between owners and tenants can be heavily regulated rather than the wild west it is now.
