PETA's speciesism is not even speciesism.

REAL speciesism is when, for example people get upset about the Chinese eating dogs but will happily slaughter equally intelligent cows and sheep by the millions. Or only getting upset when cute animals go extinct not ugly ones.

They were ahead of their time.

As publicity stunts go, "use these alternative vegan phrases" is actually pretty great. Totally harmless compared to previous stunts, but absolutely guaranteed to go viral.

Daniel Bryan (a wrestler) recently turned heel (bad guy) and his whole routine is that he yells at the audience about how they're killing the planet by using plastic water bottles and eating meat. It's great.

Samoa Joe is also a strong advocate for responsible drinking, and he's a heel.

It's reasonably straightforward. It shouldn't be allowed. It'll do far more damage to the integrity of women's sport than performance enhancing drugs.

It's especially egregious in combat sport. Watching a man beat up a woman and calling it sport just feels sickening.

This is a really, really bad hill for trans activists (and I know a few - good, well-meaning people) to die on IMO. Really strategically unproductive when there's so many more pressing issues to solve first.

There's quite a number of those hills being fortified on the trans issue imo.

anything acknowledging that there are legitimate situations to consider birth *** as a more important classification than gender identity basically

I'd go a fair bit further tbh. I think anything relating to the issue in and around children (including education) is dangerous in the extreme and unquestionably a losing issue as it relates to wider perceptions of the condition. Taking away the (imo dubious) argument that good can be done by identifying and treating the issue early, the optics are just terrible and you'll have a hard time convincing most parents that a net good will come from exposing young children to the issue at all. Silly issues like pronouns and non-confirmation to the gender binary aren't great either and feed into a perception that there's something pretty alien about people in this category.

Winning issues for trans advocates are similar to those of the LGB community imo. Emphasizing the right of adults to have agency over their own bodies and (to a lesser degree) their identity, to be free to make choices that don't infringe on the freedoms of others, in conjunction with encouraging the "don't be a dick" principle towards how we treat these people. Taking some of the heat out of the issue so the best course of treatment, management and (dare I say) prevention can be studied (relatively) politics free wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Agree. I read this in a paper recently:

Most children aged 5 to 12 years diagnosed as having
GID do not persist in having GID as adolescents; rather,
most become homosexual or bisexual adolescents and
    adults.
15,16 However, most adolescents and adults with GID
report that they experienced cross-gender behavior and
identity as children, and many teenagers diagnosed as having
GID do have persistence of GID into adulthood.3,17
    Source

So that throws up a massive red flag to me about those people advocating medical treatment/gender reassignment for children.

Even more worrying IMO is the idea that it's seen as a mental health disorder and is listed in the DSM-V. That seems like a major encroachment of the medical profession. Transgender people have always existed throughout history - if they want to go through gender reassignment surgery that's up to them, but to say that they have a mental health disorder seems to me to be a way of obscuring natural human variation.

Reassignment for children is absolutely disgusting. Newsflash :kids are stupid and confused and don't actually know what they want/are. Even less so than adults.
