So glad Colin Craig's party isn't a thing anymore.

Thinking I might have to electorate vote National to try and get rid of Seymour.

Think Ardern might be in a **** position. Not enough time to make an impact, plenty of time to be cast aside before the 2020 election.

Labour deserve to die if she does a decent job repairing the party and gets booted. Back when either Cunliffe or Shearer was made leader I was rooting for Gary Robertson but Adern is the first good choice they've made in ages.

Kelvin Davis was the bloke campaigning for helping out NZers imprisoned indefinitely on the Australian jail islands wasn't he? Even flew out there to hear their tales of mistreatment and weird offences in person. What a good ****.

Grant. Gary Robertson was a NZ medium pacer back in the 80s.

I know Ardern has said she wants kids, so I hope they can cover her if has one between 2017 and 2020. Party leaders must be allowed pretty decent paid parental leave.

I think David Clark would be another good leadership option for Labour - seems pretty switched on.

That is a concern, but at least there's no obviously egotistical and ambitious dickheads like Cunliffe lurking in her shadow at the moment. He was sharpening his knife the whole way through Shearer's tenure.

I really liked Shearer. Too nice for the job, probably overqualified.

Yeah, Shearer was good but probably made the mistake of throwing his hat in one term too soon. Reckon he would've given English a really good run for his money this time.

Shearer would have been really good and made a difference in Int relations/diplomacy/aid/refugee crises etc where NZ has rather dropped the ball.

I dunno, the Government took a pretty clear and admirable stand on the Iraeli settlements issue. Also getting into the security council was a pretty significant coup (though that's arguably more about the good work of the diplomats involved), so I'd say it's been more of a mixed story.

Btw, I seriously hate **** like this.

It ignores the fact that a) the government pretty much went from a 2% surplus to a 2% deficit overnight in 2008 after Lehman went bankrupt; b) our debt levels were so low at the end of the last labour government that running up debt was actually a perfectly reasonable response to the recession; and c) that a 30% debt:GDP ratio is actually perfectly reasonable, and that we still have one of the lowest rates of government debt in the OECD. I mean, I know it's naive to hope that social media won't decend into cheap, simplistic political point-scoring but after the last 2 years I'm just so sick of this ****.

Yeah, that's pretty poor stuff - especially when there's no shortage of more valid criticisms to make of this government.

Lol, Seymour reckons she's not experienced enough.

m8 she's older than you and been in parliament longer than you.

It's also depressing that this is the first time in years that there's been a serious political contest going on, and all people seem interested in talking about is Jacinda's uterus.

I'm quite interested in the opportunities party, but absolutely can't stand Gareth Morgan. With everything he does he comes across as an arrogant, condescending wanker and unfortunately some of this seems to be leeching into the TOP's campaigning. I'm also not a fan of taxing property in circumstances were people are asset rich and income poor, and I don't see why TOP has an aversion to just creating exceptions for family homes in certain circumstances. I mean, I get that simple policies are usually the hardest to avoid, but they also come with the sharpest edges, and Morgan doesn't seem to have an issue with means testing pensions so I'm not sure why it's different for tax.
