The Exit Polls are in, looks like Modi is set for a second outing.

I was expecting modi to win with a slight majority, but the exit polls suggest a massive margin of victory for his coalition.

I am guessing he won more because of a lack of viable alternatives than his actual performance?

And smalishah's avatar is the most classy one by far Jan certainly echoes the sentiments of CW

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

Mostly yes, but there are a couple of schemes he launched for the poor which were pretty useful (for the poor as well as him).

That said - exit polls are wrong very often (I suspect there's an oversampling of middle class).

Also the average anti-Modi voter is more quiet (basically they are the pre-2014 version of me). More vocal and excited voters have a tendency to take part in exit polls. Quiet introvert voters will easily dodge the journalists/surveys and come back home quickly to eat fish.

I've resigned myself to the fact that they aren't going anywhere in the near to mid-term future. Could easily be 10-15 more years of BJP.

Also, even if BJP gets 10 seats less than majority I don't see Modi having the personality to carry a coalition govt for 5 full years. His ass will be regularly whipped by Shiv Sena and Nitish Kumar before he resigns in a few months.

I'd say that's extremely wishful thinking.

You think Modi has the persona to carry a coalition like Vajpayee did? He behaves like a dictator. It's easy to predict what consistent pressure from allies will reduce him to. 'Strong leaders' like Modi can't differentiate between leading an alliance with respect and dancing to the tunes of other politicians.
