As someone positioned on the centre-left, who aligns with the Republicans on a surprising number of popular topics these days, I don't understand how a party that seems so intent on framing itself as the "rational" party in opposition to the Democrat's identity politics, can so comfortably ignore science on the issue of climate change.

And a question for people, especially those of Ikki's persuasion: Would you be surprised if it turns out to be China which develops renewable energy sources into a practical form and replace fossil fuels?

Hopefully the assessment that net-zero by 2050 is required will help people understand my pessimism on the subject

Heh, I don't think Republicans do that. They seem more intent on being a quasi white nationalist party at this point. There's far more Fox News worshippers in the party than Ben Shapiro wannabees. Maybe in 30 years time they'll frame themselves as the rational party in opposition to Democrats identity politics.

I find the Republicans to be a lot more moderate than the Dems these days, hence my willingness to align with the former on certain issues.

Agree with the bolded, but I certainly think its a stretch to call them a quasi white nationalist party.

Certainly, Trump has made his fair share of winks to these types, but calling the entire party a quasi white nationalist party, as opposed to a weak institution incapable of keeping Trump in line, seems excessive.

not to mentioned that the whole organic farming mindset basically involves plonking down a north european agricultural package across the entire world

It's worshipping it to say that there are certain pillars of civil society that need to remain intact and trusted for democracy to function? What an odd statement.
