Oh it does but apparently they were extremely surprised by the media storm it's caused.

Surely the odds on Trump lasting a full term are getting longer by the day. Mind you, this is America. But still, this has cover up written all over it.

the bolded is the valid point, i see him going two full terms...if democracy survives at the end of it, we will get a new president after 8 years...

It seems to me that if you're really in collusion with Russians you don't fire the guy who has told you a few times you have no connection to Russia, has been utterly incompetent in the role and has ambiguous allegiance, and instead give the director role in the meantime to a democrat.

What a dictatorship, the boss has begun firing people.

Yeah, read in the NY Times yesterday that an inside source in the White House stated that Trump had to be talked out of firing Comey on day 1.

    Yeah.

Though I seem to be in the very distinct minority that says that he more or less did the best he could in near-impossible circumstances, and therefore didn't deserve to be fired either way.

    Anyway...

    https://www.wsj.com/articles/james-c...ial-1494433061

WASHINGTON—In the weeks before President Donald Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, a federal investigation into potential collusion between Trump associates and the Russian government was heating up, as Mr. Comey became increasingly occupied with the probe.

Mr. Comey started receiving daily instead of weekly updates on the investigation, beginning at least three weeks ago, according to people with knowledge of the matter and the progress of the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe. Mr. Comey was concerned by information showing possible evidence of collusion, according to these people.
It is hard to imagine how this could have been timed worse.

Not that I think this is particularly relevant but Hilary would've fired Comey first day if she'd won, right?

There is absolutely no way she would have been stupid enough to fire Comey. Imagine the blowback she'd get if she'd done so.

She might have wanted to, mind. But it would have been political suicide.

Which would have been a tad ungrateful after Comey's contribution a week or so before the election. I'm going to assume that either the white house source or the journo were lying.

Ah, but Comey committed the cardinal sin: being the focus of media coverage, as opposed to Trump.
